Question about ATi X850XT

I found a good deal at canadacomputers.com for an X850XT for $459 and wondering if its significant difference in games between my 9800 PRO and if my 3ghz P4 will or will not bottleneck it.specs are: P4 3ghz, 1GB PC3200, ASUS P4C800-E.

There will be a significant increase going from 9800pro to X850XT. Here is a good comparison between the two. Not the greatest review site but it will give you an idea of the performance increase.

What resolution do you play at? If it's 1024x768 or lower, I'd just keep your 9800pro. You'll see the biggest difference at 1280x1024 and above.

I'd also look at a 6800GT or an X800XL as you should be able to get one for considerably less than the X850XT and they will provide 85-90% of the performance of the more expensive card. I was about to suggest a 7800GTX for the money you're paying but I guess that wouldn't work too well in a AGP slot, eh?

Do you know if the R520 will support AGP , i might just wait for that.

Do you know if the R520 will support AGP , i might just wait for that.

There have been rumors that it will.
