Question about asian women.

Let me start off by saying that I am a white guy and I have been dating almost exclusively asian women for the last 8 or so years. I am married to an asian woman right now. What I have noticed is the huge difference in what I, as an american, perceive as a good looking asian woman, and what my asian male friends perceive as a good looking asian woman. I just wondered if any of you asian men have white friends and have noticed the same thing.

I dont want a bunch of crap responses about how everyone has personal tastes, blah blah. I am talking about large cultural differences in perceived beauty.

I would have to agree with you there. I am from Hong Kong, I spend 6 months of the year in Australia...I have white friends who have markedly different ideas on good looking Asian women as compared to my Asian friends.

Hmmm, for one, my friends equate large eyes with beauty, while I like the smaller eyed exotic look. I like really long straight hair, they like permed asians....stuff like that.

I think Asian women go for the American look, whereas most American guys like Asians for their features, such as the smaller eyes. A lot of Asian women I know want the tall nosed, wide-eyed, light brown hair look, and several of them have had surgery on their eyes and noses LOL. Whatever floats your boat.

I've noticed this. If you want to get an idea of what asian men find attractive in asian women, just look at some HK movies. But if you want to get an idea of what white men find attractive in asian women, just look at Lucy Liu or that Qwok model (or whatever).

White men seem to want exaggerated asian features in asian women.

What is weird is that both asian and white men seem to have similiar tastes in white women. In other words, asian and white men tend to agree on who is an attractive white woman.

Lucy Liu is no where near good looking to me.....I wouldnt date her if I had the chance.

Storm: yeah you make a good point about the white woman thing....never even thought about that.

I've seen the "Qwok model" on some Swimsuit Issue show on MTV and she is nasty. :disgust: Of all the beautiful Asian women they had to pick her? 😕

I pisses me off whenever some non-asian dude tells me that Lucy Liu is hot, wtf? She's at best mediocre. I lived part of my life in Vietnam and let me tell you as far as it goes a majority of my HS female friends looked a hell lot better than she is. No slanted eyes, I and probably most other people from Asia will tell you slanted eyes is a very very undisirable feature (isnt that ironic?). No dark skin either (not black, it's dark like from tanning)what are you, a farmer?

Why are there so many white guys that "exclusively" date asian woman? Isn't their argument for their preference is that love is blind?

I have to agree. Good observation!

I think this is because we all watch white women from a single source, Hollywood. We all unconsciously feed on hollywood's definition of hot white chicks.

But when comes to asian women, there is a difference: those (mostly asians) who grew up in asia have real asian experience while those (mostly whites) who never live in asia only have vicarious one via hollywood fabrication.

Lucy Liu's look is average to me. I am a pacific islander, so I do prefer darker/tannish skin tone in either white or asian women. It looks healthier to my sense of vanity 🙂

<< No dark skin either (not black, it's dark like from tanning) >>

ahahaha, yeah dark skin isn't really the in thing for asian girls in asia.

Yup, exactly. Or look at Japanese models.

For example, This is a good looking women considered by Asians, not Americans.

the thing is that asian guys tend to like the cuter, innocent look IMHO, that's why the big eyes and other features are more attractive, whereas white guys (no offense, really, i'm just trying to answer your question) tend to focus more on physical features, and like you said earlier, the more exotic-looking features... plus, americans come from a place where breast and ass size isn't an issue 😛, whereas asian women all seem to be more um 'petite' sized? (i don't want to push any buttons) so that asian guys have grown up looking for features other than the ones that people perceive as 'exotic', features such as a cute face, slender (less voluptuous in most cases) body, and the like... however i must disagree with you on the hair issue, long and straight is almost always better 😀 silky hair is freakin awesome hehe hope i helped out, and if i offended anyone, then sorry, i didn't mean to really, just wanted to answer warcleric's question

hehe like racheal leigh cook? 🙂

and yea, @%# ugly asians in hollywood. Remember ross's ugly gf in friends? I was like wtf?

I know a couple of white guys who go for what I call "AA" (Anything Asian). It's like a fetish or something.

I think going for someone just because of their race is just plain wrong. It's ok to have preferences, but fetishes are just plain weird.

As far as I'm concerned, the white guys can have all the Lucy Liu's they want. Just leave me my Jaymee 🙂 Tisk tisk, dissappointed in you guys though, where were your votes when they counted? 😀
