Are you talking about the first slot where the video card goes? - AGP
Or the last slot or slots on older motherboards? - ISA

More likely a AMR slot (Audio Modem Riser) slot. What's it look like, and where, exactly, is it located on the mobo? Or tell us what mobo and we'll look it up.

AMR slots are quite short. ACR is the slot standard that uses the same mechanical solution as PCI, only reversed and slightly offset.

Things like modem or network risers go there, so do sound extensions and a couple of other things. This is mostly a barebone manufacturing thing, allowing vendors to configure the machine last-minute, putting in country specific modems, certain networking equipment or advanced sound solutions, depending on where they go and who buys them.

ACR cards are hard to come by in single unit retail.
