Question about 3dmark 11 score (gigabyte gtx 680 windforce 3x oc edition)

hey i had some problems with freezing and then i just wanted to try to run 3dmark11 again to see if it still freezes, but no i run the performance test 2 times and i didn't freeze

so here you got my score but i think my score for my graphic is very low= http://3dmark.com/3dm11/3661697
i have set the graphic to maximum performance in nvidia control panel

Processor: Intel core i5 3570k

Video: Gigabyte gtx 680 windforce 3x

so i wanted to know if my score is normal?

It doesn't look too far off from the score on Guru3d's review, so I'd say the gpu is probably fine.

That score looks pretty normal. If you have stability problems, go inside bios and change PCI-E from Gen3 to Gen2 (PCI-E 3.0 to 2.0). I fixed stability problems in a friends system by doing this. I has the same mobo and graphics card as you. After I switched to PCI-E 2.0 there was no more freezing or stability problems.

I don't know. I found this fix by searching google. It worked for my friend. It seems this problem is common with the Gigabyte GTX 670 Winforce x3 card, cause I've seen this fix work on other Z77 motherboard brands (Like MSI) also. This friend of mine has a brother which also has the ASUS P8Z77-V and a i5 3570K. Only difference is he has a reference design Gainward GTX 670. He has no problems at PCI-E 3.0.

Anyway, PCI-E 2.0 will not be a bottleneck for you.

Who knows... But for my friend it's been rock stable after switching from PCI-E 3.0 to 2.0. As I've said, I also built his brothers system, which has the same mobo, CPU and RAM, except for he has a reference Gainward GTX 670. And he has no issues using PCI-E 3.0 in his system.

Also, when I searched google there was other people, with other Z77/Ivy combos that fixed stability problems for the GTX 670 Windforce 3 by switching to PCI-E 2.0

My friends system was totally unstable without doing this. It even crashed on the desktop in Idle mode.

i have been playing battlefield 3 about 40 min and then i freezer again, i will try to change it to pci-e 2.0 and see if that fix it

Ok, you see the nice little gaussian distribution on the 3dmark site? If you're in the middle of it, like yours is, yes, that's about average for that card

Gigabyte is pretty good at releasing bios updates for their cards if there is an issue. I was having stability problems myself with a windforce 570 that was corrected by a bios update. Just visit your cards page at the gigabyte site every once in a while to check.

Not related to the GPU cause it seems fine from your score, but 3dmark reports your memory as 1066 not 1600. Is that what they were programmed at I wonder?

Anyway with an overclock on the GPU and on your CPU I think you can get up near 10k.

Hmm... this is peculiar. I've been running mine on pci-e 3.0 with no problems.

Maybe you could try the new beta drivers? I'm not sure if that would help though, but I've been using them for a bit with no problems.

Did you try switching to PCI-E 2.0 from the mobo bios? Really, you will not loose any performance with just one card VS PCI-E 3.0 .

There is no issue with pci express 3.0 and the GTX 680, i'm not even sure why anyone would suggest that. The only issue with pcie 3.0 is on x79, and your score is fine. Look at the graphics score, NOT THE TOTAL, the physics score (which is calcuated with the total) depends entirely on the cpu. Non HT processors score low on physics and combined. Your gfx score is fine.

Are you oc'ing beyond the stock gigabyte oc?

Are you OC'ing the card beyond its stock settings by chance? Crashes that occur after a period of several minutes are usually heat related, or an unstable OC.

There are issues with the GTX 670 Windforce 3X and Z77 with regards to PCI-E 3.0. I fixed stability issues in a friends system by switching to PCI-E 2.0 in mobo bios. Before I did that it crashed all the time. I found this by searching google and found others with the same problem, and same solution.

So this might aswell affect the GTX 680 Windforce. Worth a try.
