The model I'm looking at is the Sony SDM-P232W/B. The response time listed everywhere is 40ms, which is horrible. However, from what I've read, the panel itself is identical to the older Apple Cinema HD 23" Display, for which Apple never disclosed a response time.
My dilemma is that I can't find any professional reviews of the Sony anywhere, and the user reviews from Amazon say that there is little or no ghosting in games and movies, which I find hard to believe for a 40ms panel. But all the professional reviews of the old Apple display say that it is fine for movies and games.
So what gives? Are they the same panels or not? And is the Sony going to be acceptable for light gaming and DVDs?
BTW, the reason I'm looking at this older 23" display instead of the newer models with 16ms response times...money. I can score the Sony panel at a significant discount.
