Hi Guys,

I am planning on getting a car in the next month or so and the honda accord lx seems to be a pretty good car. I have checked www.carsdirect.com and the price for that in my area is about 18k + tax and fees (with automatic transmission). Is that a decent price for an accord? Does anyone have experience with this year's model?

Does anyone here have experience buying car in the Clemson, SC (near greenville) or in the Atlanta, GA area? I can't seem to be able to find much info on sales, deals, etc. about local dealers.

Thanks,
Mark.

Welcome to the forums...
I do not have any experience with the Atlanta area, but $18.000 sounds like a good deal for a new Accord LX auto.
Professional review

Nice looking car for me, but I dont like the rear for some odd reason. The interior desing is nice though...

Honestly, though, I think that the ugliness of the rear is offset greatly when a spoiler is added. It looks MUCH better IMHO. :)

$18k for a 2003 Honda Accord LX (automatic) is a good price.

They're selling for around $19,700 here and that's on loss leader ad :(

If you're looking for information about the dealers, buy a Sunday newspaper for the cities you're interested in. They run adds every week.

It's a great car!

Enjoy that center pocket with the cool flip up lid! (I made that part! woohoo!)

Got it last weekend (manual though) for 17054 + tax and fees. The only good thing about being in SC is that the max tax you pay in car is $300. I am happy now. Thanks guys.

Cool - got any pictures? Give up the specs on your new car :p If I were looking at the current 4 door accord, my dream coimbination would be an EX, 5-speed, leather, and navigation :)

They don't have new Accord SEs yet? Those were better deals than LXs in recent years, IMO.

Thanks guys. It's the basic LX model with nothing added. The color is Graphite Pearl (was gonna get a coupe in this color but they said no one in the 4 states near here even carries it...tough luck). If anyone in the area is looking for one, I highly recommend Hennessy-Honda in Woodstock, GA. Very professional and price is great. Sorry don't have any pics. Back is pretty ugly I think...can't do anything about it. Maybe a spoiler in future. And I still need to get alarm for it as well. Anyone know if remote starter is workable idea for it?

Holy $hit, max of $300 in taxes? Are you serious? If they didn't recommend against driving it on the highway for the first 1000 miles I'd drive down there just for the taxes alone...

The back will grow on you - as of late it has definetly looked better to me. You can add remote starter and an alarm - however, get it professionally installed. By the dealer if necessary (more costly however)

yep. SC law is that 5% sales tax upto $300 for cars. Only thing is that you have to be a resident of the state though. And they charge you property tax every year...I paid $371 today to county office...but again, no one keeps you from moving away after a while. I know it would have been like $2k in tax + fees if I bought it back in CA.

you might be able to get pass the tax part that way. have to check with dmv though. they might tax you after you bring it back home. so not too sure.

Gifting a car will cost you more then "selling" it and paying the taxes on that. However, rest assured when you try to register it the state will ream you a new one...
