How does one measure intelligence superior to him/her self anyway? I have done some IQ tests in my life and all were a bit stupid if you ask me. Now, I'm NOT the smartest guy here, not even close (138 SD 10 in English that's not my native language), but all tests that I've done had some basic problems, like expecting one correct answer where more than one could be correct, vice versa, etc. Besides, what is "intelligence"? The smartest answer I've ever heard is that it's flexibility. Scientists can argue that there are many types of intelligence, like "mathematical/logical" (IQ?), "emotional" (EQ?), "physical" (Cooper's Test?),... and then define each one as a separate entity. But, isn't all this just load of faecal material? Call me inflexible, but I won't swim in it! :disgust:

1. Properly administered IQ tests are done by a pyschologist because the method of answering, the speed in which it was given and various other factors are as important if not more important than the actual answers given.

2. The original idea of IQ was to categorize various levels of mental retardation. It loses its effectiveness when applied to above-average intelligences (as far as I am aware). It has been tailored and refined to be more applicable to a wider spectrum, but various tests have various valid ranges. It makes comparing IQ's rather pointless, no?

3. IQ was originally and is still time sensitive. It is intelligence relative to a time base. If someone who is in 3rd grade understands concepts and can problem solve like a senior in high school, that person is of above-average intelligence. The farther along you go the less precise the calculations can be made because you are closer to your reference time and reference "intelligence".

I have a very high IQ. I am very smart. I don't need you to tell me that I am. I don't care if someone is smarter than me. My intelligence is part of who I am but it does not define me.

P-X

I'd gladly submit my IQ score, but the damned paper copy is at the 'rents. And I'll be damned if I'm going out of my way to get that thing.

Years ago I had a psychologist put me through an IQ exam. I remember some of the results, I'll see if I can find her report or if my folks have it at their place.

I didn't spend any time reading this thread, but I hope someone suggested you also collect ATOT posts-per-day data alongside the IQ data. I have a feeling you would discover an inverted trend...

Wouldn't an online IQ test tend to weed out the people with higher IQ's? Just a guess, but my estimate is that about 90% of the people with IQ's of 120 or above wouldn't bother wasting their time. Thus, your test will have skewed results.

Somehow I have a hard time believing that the smartest person on the Anandtech forums would give a rat's behind whether someone named Dofuss even knew about him/her let alone take the time to send any bona fides. 🙂

Amen to that.

Mensa (and other high-IQ societies) are nothing but a circle-jerk for losers with unrealized potential. Much like this thread, in fact.

Amen to THAT!

The intelligence both in (and behind) this truth is difficult to miss.
