Quest for 2.7

Mrvile

Lifer
Ok, here's what I got so far. I normally run 2.6 @ about 1.45v, usually 260 x 10. Ram is at 166, so it's not an issue. I'm trying for 2.7ghz, with 300 x 9, but even at 1.55v I crash out of Prime within the first minute. Have I reached the limit of the chip? Don't worry about cooling, it's all water so it should be fine at high voltages.

Ram timings btw are 3-4-4-10 just to keep the ram out of the equation.

Does anyone have any suggestions that I make? I'm going to try 270 x 10 in a sec.

I run 1.6v with my winnie 3000+ at 300x9 @ 2.7Ghz.
I would consider 1.65v within the safety margin...

Have you found the limit of your board yet?

Drop your multiplier down to 7 and push for 300..

A lot of people are UNABLE to hit 300+ on the Neo 2's ..

Duvie has hit 350 stable and I max around 315..

This chip has 2.9ghz in it ( or damn close ) but my board craps out...

My board goes up to about 330 stable, then craps out at about 333. The voltage looks like it locks at about 1.55 (1.58 under load). Right now I'm running 245 x 11, Prime craps out after 1 or 2 minutes even at peak voltage. I think I'm done for. Btw, how do you know how high your CPU can clock if you can't stay stable cuz of your board?

Well there is a bigger gap (BIG gap ) Between prime Stable and completely flaky..

I can run prime @ 314x9 all night, but around 315 it craps out.. 2825 is stable as a rock, and could push higher.. Guess it's just one of those things, but I think this chip has 2.9ghz in it..

I could push 1.6v through it, but there is no point..

You know, I just tried to run a high FSB (for fun) on my motherboard a minute ago, and when I punched in 330 it crapped which is weird because I was able to hit it before. Hmm...

Right now I'm running 240 x 11 which is 2.64 at about 1.52v and it's stable as a rock so far. Damnit I think I'm capped at <2.7ghz.

What voltage settings do you use to get 1.56ghz? Right now I'm doing 1.45 @ 5.0%.

hah i checked the other day and i could only get up to 295HTT, not that i need it on this pieceo crap chip

Ahh, fockin A, just when I thought I could get a stable overclock it craps out after 32 minutes. GAHH! Time to raise that godamn voltage I hate my comp.

Mrvile..

I run 1.475 + 8.3% to get 1.54-1.56v (Core center and CPU-Z)

It seems like that varies by board and BIOS, because I swear I had it @ 1.5 + 8.3% on a different BIOS and it was also 1.54-1.56v

Have you adjusted your chipset voltage at all?

I assume it's @ 1.5 or 1.55, try it 1.6v(AGP voltage) which is completely safe.. That helped me out around 315..

lol yeah it varies big time .. i have the same bored as you and, to get 1.56 i have to do 1.52 and 8.3% 😕 stupid damn BIOS .. oh well

Yep, I've got AGP voltage at 1.6v.

Anyways I upped the voltage to 1.55 and I get 2.65 stable, which is nice and all but still not what I expected out of the Winchesters. Oh well, thanks guys.

why do you set AGP voltage at 1.6, is it because it sets the chipset voltage to 1.6 aswell .. if so i need to check this out .. 😀😀 hope it adds stability

Meh, I'm running 1.65 volts on my winchester with air cooling and no problems. It'll be long upgraded before it ever craps out.

You only get 2.4 out of that thing with 1.65v?? Might as well not even OC it.

you might have hit the max on your chip.

or you might need a large voltage increase to get a lil more out!

for example on my clawhammer (default 11 x 200 @ 1.5 volts)

i can run 2.75 gig with 1.53 volts (1.55 x 1.04%) 11 x 250 but in order to get 2.81 ghz 11x 256 i need 1.525 x 1.13% or 1.66 volts

pretty big increase just for 50 mhz.

Why? It's either that or throw it away?

I believe it affects the Neo2's chipset a little bit..I just don't think some boards can handle the very high HTT, reguardless of voltage..

I removed my chipset fan and applied some AS and that didn't really change much.. maybe a few more mhz..

Don't really feel like putting the time or money into a chipset fan, I am sitting pretty @ 2.8, not worth it for 50-100mhz..

I am a complete noob at OCing. How are all of you getting such high speeds? I only seem to be able to get 230 with 11x (2530). If I go any higher then my computer will say it is in Safe Mode and press F1 to continue. I don't think I can use any multiplier other than 11x for some reason. I definately can't go to 240. I'm at 1.55v already. Am I doing something wrong? I also have no idea what to do about my RAM timings and stuff. I'm lost! Help!
