I like quesadillas. I also suck at making quesadillas. It's always a big mess to cook them on a frying pan, and they always get burnt, and it's hard to clean up everything. I want to get a Quesadilla maker, i guess they're not real easy to find though, could anyone recommend one? Share your recipes too while you're at it :)

I got this as a christmas gift from a friend a couple years ago... it works well enough. my only real complaint is that if you put a lot of cheese on, the thing overflows is a pain to clean up.

Eactly what he said.

All the Q makers like this are too shallow to actually put anything in. If I shred some chicken and put in the cheese, then the lid won't close and I have to use a lot of force to get it closed and then stand there holding it because it doesn't lock. And then it all oozes out.

THe final product tastes good and all but they would be better if they had deeper cavities for putting the toppings.

Doing them in a fry pan is easy and isn't messy at all unless you over stuff it. Just put a little oil in a pan, drop in the assembled Quesadilla. After a bit flip it (cheese should have melted and will hold it all together) and then take it out when it's done.

Oh, and you can get the Q makers from Kohls, WalMart, etc. Should be easy to find.

I didnt realize it was that hard but you could just throw it on a paper plate and nuke it in the microwave, thats what I do when I want one real quick.

When cooking quesadillas in a pan, put the rest of the ingredients on the bottom tortilla, then put the cheese on top of that before placing the second tortilla on top. That way the cheese melts and runs down through the the ingredients to help stick the mass together for when you flip it.

Rather than greasing or oiling the pan, I apply butter to the sides of the tortillas that will be exposed to the pan.

This +medium heat +1\2 Tbl butter

lay tortilla on griddle till hot, spread shredded cheese and shredded marinated chicken over tortilla, leaving 1\2 inch around. Lay topping tortilla on assembled ingredients for a minute till cheese is melty. Flip and brown.

Edit: It occurs to me I should have specified pre-cooked chicken. There's no way you'll be cooking a quesadilla long enough to cook the chicken, and I don't want you to die. :)

I do too, but my wife, who didn't have iron skillets growing up and thinks the non-stick of iron is miraculous, keeps trying to cook scrambled eggs in it.

I just need to get her a good skillet with high sides. :)

I prefer a double burner griddle so I can make a couple at the same time, but yep, a griddle is the way to go.

I bought myself this for father's day a couple years ago, but I usually only pull it out for pancakes and broiler steaks (in the winter)..

Good thought though, I'll definately make quesadilla's for the next family party!

If you need a special machine to help you make quesadillas, you shouldnt be in the kitchen making your own food in the first place. :p

Even assisted living folks should be able to enjoy the accomplishment of making their own quesadilla's :)

This thread has made me hungry for a quesadilla. I think I know what I'm having for dinner tonight.

i love chicken quesadillas.

i jsut get the tortilla, throw the chicken and veggies in,pur chees on top, sometimes i spread salsa con queso on the inside of the tortilla 1st to add some spice and extra flavor and then fold.

i usually put mine in the oven for a crisp tortilla. frying pan works well too

You guys can be dicks about the dumbest things :p - Quesadillas are hard and messy to make on a frying pan. Though I am using some crappy frying pan from the 80s which should of been thrown out 10 years ago. Also, I use more than just cheese, which complicates things a bit. It's a labor intesive meal. There's got to be some good Q makers out there, something that would make things a bit easier.

You're still going to have to prepare and assemble the ingredients. The only thing you won't have to do is flip it. If that's the main source of the trouble, stop putting so much crap in your quesadilla.

:)
