wow. dude has not even taken 1 snap in the NFL and second string and is a millionaire. This is one of many reasons i am not a NFL fan anymore. its all about the money from the players, team, beer and Viagra commercials. All rookies in the NFL should start out at the league min salary and work their way to being superstar pay.

Quarterback Tim Tebow has signed a five-year deal worth a maximum of $33 million with the Denver Broncos. The deal guarantees Tebow $8.7 million.

Tebow and the Broncos agreed on the contract on Thursday.

The base for the contract is $11.25 million, but he can earn up to $33 million by the end of the deal.

He was picked 25th overall in the draft, the Broncos' second pick in the first round. The Broncos' first pick, Georgia Tech wide receiver Demaryius Thomas, has still not signed with the team.

The Broncos began workouts with rookies on Wednesday, but Tebow missed the first few practices while both sides worked on the deal. Thomas has not come to practice either and is the only unsigned member of Denver's draft class.

Tebow will now enter camp and compete with Kyle Orton and Brady Quinn for snaps.

Tebow is expected to practice Friday morning, the final session before training camp begins Sunday with a full squad.

Head coach Josh McDaniels has said that the starting job is still Orton's.

Of course he hasn't taken a snap in the NFL, he was just drafted and there haven't been any NFL games yet. Not even preseason games.

Meh, if a team is willing to pay you that, then why not?

(Doesn't watch the NFL except for maybe the playoffs and Super Bowl.)

this is the exact kind of thing that people said about Lebron James before he dribbled a ball in a NBA game

he's now one of the top two players in the NBA

what a fail thread...hes not gonna get anything near 33 million, even if he is very good.

the base contract with that guaranteed money is nothing lol...

He was basically owed that money because of where he was drafted. Rookie contracts for the most part aren't based so much on how good the player is but where they are drafted. Generally the 20th drafted player gets a similar contract to the 20th drafted player the year before with a small raise. With the Bronco's being retarded and drafting him that high they had to pay him big money. Jimmy Clausen dropped like a rock in the draft to 48th and signed a ~$6.5 million four year contract. Anyone who says Tebow is 5x the quaterback than Clausen is bat shit insane. Clausen will play earlier, make an impact for his team earlier, and I think will be the better quaterback. I will be surprised if Tebow is ever a starting quaterback in the NFL.

If you don't like it then boycott the NFL. If they didn't have hundreds of millions of dollars from the fans to throw around, they wouldn't sign players to those massive contracts.

Well you can't fault Tebow. If that's what the going rates are, then go after it and get it....no reason not to. It's not his fault that's the way it works. He'd be crazy to sign for league minimum if he can get more easily.

I'm mixed. I don't know why they went and got Quinn. Orton is okay....Tebow well...who knows.

I usually don't wish people to fail, but I hope this is true. His whole "My Mom didn't have an abortion!" bit at the super bowl last year was really irritating.

Yeah...DOWN WITH PEOPLE WHO SPEAK OUT ABOUT WHAT THEY BELIEVE!!!! Unless of course it is in line with what you believe......

Hypocrite.

I dont fault Tebow at all, if i had his talent i would have done the same. my issue is with how the league is setup to pay these huge salaries on guys who have not proved themselves in the pros yet.

i didnt write the story. and what do you base your assumption on that he wont get 33million? have you read his contract?

unless Orton gets hurt he will spend the season riding the pine just like all the other backup QB's in football.

that other 20 million is incentives. if the guy makes the pro bowl every year, reaches certain stats, wins superbowls, he'll get that money. not gonna happen. if in a few years he actually does start reaching some incentives, he will probably be underpaid.

I don't know how people are looking at 11 million for 5 years and being shocked. this is pro sports...

Too bad they didn't learn from past players that you should watch how they play in the NFL before they get that kind of $$. Not that he'll fail, but the chance is there

He should leave his current one.

It will be funny if the Redskins make the superbowl this year.

Meh... I still like him enough. He shakes shit up and gets really fired up about it. The Broncos were dead in the water without some new blood, and despite some really stupid fucking draft choices I like McDaniels.

I'm not sure about it. Maybe it's the organization overall that I get bad vibes from but they seem to do some really stupid shit.
