Me too, me too :). The $60 is going to help pay for the Staple Maxtor 20gig @ $50.

My rebate is 3 months past due, so I just sent Quantum a bill for interest on my money at 24% (credit card rate). I think it is a binding contract when they said rebate in 2 months and anytime after that it is my money. If they want to keep it a while then they should pay interest like I have to.

About two weeks ago, in response to a Quantum e-mail stating that my rebate wouldn't be paid for another 4 weeks because of "overwhelming response," I sent their corporate relations office an e-mail with a link to an anandtech thread, which someone started saying a Quantum HD for $xy was a "hotbuy," but others, including myself, %itched about their rebate history.

I sent the e-mail along with a note ..."Thought you'd like to know what they are saying about you!"

Within 3 days I got another e-mail saying to disregard the original e-mail, a mistake had been made, and my check had been mailed.

Well, that check arrived yesterday ....five months and five days after I mailed in all the required crap.

Now UMAX is the enemy # 1 on my outstanding rebates Excel spreadsheet ....four months and 22 days and counting...

Does anyone have a copyof the rebate form from September 2000? I bought two of those 30GB HDs to put into my Tivo, and Ijust got my rebate last week. I think the rebate check was supposed to be for $60, but they only gave me $30!

I'd like a copy so I can call them up and complain.

Doesn't seem right that 6-8 weeks winds up being 4-6 months and half of what we promised!

Thanks!

I had the same problem you did hychka where I called and complained, but this did not do any good. Now that they've partnered with Maxtor I think we will see less and less rebates as Quantum did a lot more of that than Maxtor.

I also got my check yesterday along with my quarterly eBates check!

re Umax: I don't really thing they plan on paying anyone who doesn't fight for it -- they claimed I didn't send the UPC, then the serial # (both being on the same sticker from the box that I sent ... ) I have faxed them all the copies again, and now need to call & see if they received it (or if their fax machine is also experiencing problems.)

I had the same problem with Sonic Foundry rebates -- could have been coincidence, but both went through the same clearing center. (I don't have "which one" with me, but it wasn't Young America, MN, or Coppell, TX...thus far I haven't had problems with rebates through either of those clearing houses.)

hychka: Yeah, I thought it was $30 for a 30GB drive. I bought 2 of them. And I sort of remember a limit of 5 per household.

I wanted to snag a copy of the form before I called them. Just to be sure.

I'll let everyone know how it turns out.

Thanks.

I ordered (2) 15GB hard drives for this promotion and only recieved a $15 rebate which would be for only one. I called the customer service number on the rebate form 1-800-624-5545 and was told that the processing dept. has been making some "clerical" errors on this rebate (yeah right) and that if I fax copies of my rebate form and reciept to them they will send the rest of the rebate.
Since I have been screwed out of rebates in the past I keep copies of all paperwork and follow up regularly.

Here is the information from the original promotion:

And everyone complains about how long Cyberrebates takes. They always deliver within their openly stated schedule. :)
