Expires June 30th!

This is a good deal become better. Buy.com dropped the price of this StorageReview.com top pick to $183. Use this $20 off coupon http://www.us.buy.com/promo/80220131.asp and the Quantum $30 rebate http://www.quantum.com/quantum/promos/030700_rebate_form.htm and you end up with a $133 30GB 7200rpm HD. If you use ebates you can knock another 6% off, effectively eliminating shipping. I found this at Techdeals first, but Buy.com just dropped the price of the HD $20, so jump on it!

$183 - $20 coupon + $6.20 S&H - 6% ebates - $30 rebate = <$133

Great deal....unfortunately the quantum site is down. I want to check out the terms of the deal before I get this one.

heh. Doh! Just got the 20gb drives for $105 each after rebate.

Anyway, these come in a plain quantum box (cardboard with Quantum written on sides and all). Not retail boxes like you'd see in stores, but not totally unmarked boxes either. Buy.com ships them very well..they're already in Quantum's box (specifically made for shipping hard drives), and then placed in a large box with packing material around it.

The rebate doesn't ask for a UPC, just a copy of the receipt, so I don't think a retail box is important.

BTW, Dumb question, but does it matter of you are putting one of these in an older MB that is only ATA 33 ? I assume it woks, but as an ATA 33 drive, not 66.

Yup, it just works. I just dropped it into my BH6, no fuss. I think it auto-detects whether it's on a ATA-33 or -66 connection.

Not that it matters, since it won't improve perf. by a noticable amount.

Just a note to everyone, you must postmark the Quantum rebate by June 30th so you better order it fast. I ordered mine tonight and since it is in stock I expect it here by thursday so that I can send it off thursday or friday (friday is the 30th). The $30 off buy.com coupon is good until July seventh so np there. The new link to the Quantum rebate is:

http://www.quantum.com/quantum/promos/030700_rebate_form.htm

This is a great deal on a HUGE and super fast hard drive.

the reciept has to be dated by June 30th; however, the postmark deadline isn't June 30th, it is July 30th -- (Taken from their rebate form) "Requests must be postmarked by 7/30/00."

But the sooner you mail it off the sooner you get the rebate, so it is good to mail it out asap :)

doh, your right. Still a great deal to jump on though, Buy.com is always screwing around with the prices.

As far as quantum goes, I don't think they have retail HD kits. Also you guys might want to use the 30 of 150 coupon from Buy. Also if you can find a website that is cheaper than buy pricematch it too. Thanx for the deal guys.

I don't think there are any $30 coupons left. But there is free shipping...still looks like ~$130 is the best you're going to get it for.

And they just bumped the f***ing price $4!!! What a f***ing joke. I tried to buy this last night after midnight to get on the free shipping deal. But it was still trying to charge me shipping. So I waited till today. Now the price of the drive is $187 instead of $183. That's how this f***ing company gives you free shipping...they just increase their damn prices!
