LOL. Well that doesnt really surprise me. But do consider this - When I ordered my drive (pre free shipping deal) it cost me around $6.50 for ups ground (default choice), so basically you are saving a whole $2 on shipping. The California taxes are what hit me hard though, $13.50 in friggin taxes. Ah well, still will come out to ~$140 and that is STILL a great deal. Thats what most places are selling 5400rpm 30gb drives or 20gb similar spec'd drives.

I'm sorry if this is a dumb question, but I just got the aforementioned drive. Does the buy.com packing slip count as the receipt when i send it to Quantum for a rebate? Or do I have to print out the buy.com online receipt? Thanks.

Straight from the rebate page:

To receive your rebate, please mail:
Completed mail-in form
A receipt for Quantum Fireball Plus LM 10GB
15GB, 20GB, 30GB hard disk drives, showing purchase date between 5/15/00 and 6/30/00.

So unless I'm totally blind or stupid, the question remains: is the packing slip enough?

I went to buy.com, logged into my eaccount and then clicked on the order. it then sends you to another page. Towards the bottom there is a link that says "Receipt". Click on it and it will go to a printable version of your receipt. Print it out and you got an official receipt to send in.

Just wanted to update everyone and tell ya I got my drive. Arrived in good packing. Large box with peanuts. Inside large box was smaller box that was foam padded. Drive was inside in a static bag. Drive came with no manuals, cables etc. definately OEM. Installed the Drive, Formatted and partitioned it. BIOS initially did not detect the drive correctly but I went into BIOS and had it run the auto detect drive program and it correctly identified the drive after that. This is on a n Asus P5a socket seven mobo btw. Right now it is up and running. Pretty fast, not too noisy, and it was a great deal.

I dont know what packing slip your reffering to since mine didnt come with one. According to their site all you need is a receipt, which you can print out from Buy.com per my instructions above.
