This is one of those drives that was sold as a maxtor hdd, in a maxtor box, yet it was a quantum fireball.

Turns out that the maxblast software says it doesnt support the drive while trying to use the POWERMAX part of the software to do a low level format.

Im not finding much on maxtor's website, so im assuming its "user error" and im just not looking in the right places.

Can anyone help me locate software to do a low level format on a 40gb Quantum Fireball AS40.0 hdd?

Guess i should clarify myself b4 this turns into one of those "there are no low level formats anymore" thread. ;)

Im looking for the Quantum Utility to allow me to format the drive by overwriting it with numbers.

The Maxblast software says it doesnt support the drive, so i cant use it.
(which is funny cuz it came with the drive...lol)

Nevermind.
I got it it.

POWERMAX v3.0 or higher supports the Quantum drives.

Floppy that came with it was v1.278.

At least i helped somebody today, even if it was myself. :D
