Oh, I thought you were going to just go ahead and plow through the Handbrake thread. If you feel like collating more data, I'd help. Finding fair market values of all those components might be a stumbling block.

Are people putting single threaded results in there? It's been a while since I looked at that thread, but I thought it was strictly multithreaded.
 
Well Terry, as I stated in the other thread, I'm new to all of this (1 1/2mo.) but have learned a bit since joining and reading the threads. I don't fully understand the specifics of your formula (specifically the $400 offset) as my whole rig cost $485 and that's including case, power supply, RAM, GTX 570SE, Bluray burner, 128gb SSD + 3TB WD hdd..

Of that I paid $85 for the L5639 and got the Asus P6 X58D Premium board for free.
I downloaded the full 1920X1080 mp4 and converted to Android.. Correct?

TBH, I was against the $400 offset as well but a few people felt it was a good idea and it does alter the results somewhat. It is intended to be a reasonable "rest of the cost of the system". Case, PSU, video card etc.

I need a single threaded result as well, I'll post a screenshot for you tonight of how to do that if you have a hard time following the directions in this thread.

Great, I will update the chart tonight when we get home. It'll be interesting to see where a "pure" L5639 build lands on our chart.

Edit: Updated with Burpo's results. Since we're operating on FMV, I used $90 for the motherboard. Seems to be a reasonable average for a used board, according to sold listings.

I populated some multi-threaded performance entries I gleamed from the Handbrake thread. Someone want to help me out with FMV on any of these rigs? I don't know what the going rate is for motherboards for the newer Intel stuff.

I think you missed this post Terry. I used the same file as everyone else to achieve the above results. My earlier post was from using the 886mb mp4 file from http://www.bigbuckbunny.org/index.php/download/ and not the .mov file that was used in the Handbrake Benchmark thread. My average should be 157 fps..

It should be around the same as your X58, but mine was at 3.66Ghz not 2.13 also..

This is something I wanted to help with, if you wanted it, but my time is extremely limited right now. I'll do what I can. My methodology is usually to average the last ten functioning examples that sold on ebay, or the Newegg price for stuff that is still on sale.

I've got no issue handling that. I'm lost on what motherboards for the chips.

Was able to crank bclk to 212 and run 3.8ghz for little better score..

Thanks for your patience with me Terry and you were 100% correct. Extra voltage to the chip isn't needed when the uncore has enough. Hitting 4136mhz at .2 volt offset and benching much better 😀 This screenshot was right after running passmark and temps are lower now 🙂



AND There's more left 😀 Basically running a 2.1 xeon at 4.2 :whiste:
