Quality white dinnerware?

Looking to buy some new dishes. Seems like all I can find is either crappy, thin, cheap stuff or quality, super expensive stuff. Anybody have a recommendation for a quality white dinnerware set that isn't crazy expensive? I need probably 8-12 place settings.

We got our plates at Target. They are plain white and thick and sturdy. I like them well enough of our everyday use.

Yep, I'd go with Corelle. It's not super cheap, but it's high quality stuff and really isn't very expensive.

I hate hate hate Corelle. They managed to give the appearance of plastic to a vitrified substance. It's durable as hell, but reminds me of the worst of the 70s.

Corelle was introduced in the '70s. One of the original designs:

We went with a mix of Corelle stuff around the beginning of the year.

Again, some larger and smaller versions.

If you have a local store near you I would recommend going in person to check the stuff out, and consider buying the stuff open stock versus the sets.

Really pleased with the look of the stuff we ended up with, and the durability and (light) weight are great too.

yup, I generally use the 'saucers' for dinner plates, just about the right size. the dinner plates are too big for my carrousel microwave, they will not turn because the corners get caught.

I have these. Basic enough for everyday but can be dressed up for fancy dinners with a charger. Can probably find it cheaper. There are Mikasa outlet stores around and you can find some good deals in those stores. Especially if you'll take a set missing one piece.

If you are looking for plain white and have an Ikea near by I suggest IKEA.

IKEA actually has pretty good quality on the cheap with their 365 line.

Don't know what you consider as quality. But I used to use a plain white Corelle set.

If you like it, you can get plain white Fiestaware.

When I lived in Japan, alot of people liked Noritake. Don't know if they make a plain white set though...

Restaurant supply stuff is hard to beat for the price. We've been using Tuxton plates for years with no problems. It is a bit heavier than most china designed for home use but it lasts.

I don't know your budget, or what you consider to be "quality", but we have a lot of the Pottery Barn "Great White" dinnerware.

Seconded. Our Ikea stuff seems nigh indestructible and is dishwasher/microwave safe.
