This mic is sucking pretty bad. It's like 1.5 ft away from my mouth and it's too quiet. Got it turned up to max in all settings/games. Sure there's no advanced options for this thing like mic boost or a +30db thing somewhere?

I thought I didn't have to put my mouth right on the mic for it to be clear.

It picks up my voice just fine from a couple of feet away.

In my experience, the quality of the mic input circuitry on the sound card is much more important than the mic you are using. Onboard mic inputs are definitely a prime suspect for causing poor mic performance.

If you want a good mic setup, your best bet is to either get a decent sound card or use a USB microphone.

heh, i just posted in the other thread asking about headsets/mics and i mentioned my zalman, couldn't think of the name at the time. works great for me.
