Hello,

Where can I get Quake 3 Arena for Linux??
Do you have to purchase it from id?

Can I download it 🙂 from somewhere..
I got the latest patch off of the net already.

Can someone help me.
thanks

You can download linux binaries (for free) and copy graphic files from your Quake3 Windows CD/installation folder. I did so and it worked very well...

Can you provide a link? Ive never seen this, just curious 😛

The latest Linux point release can be down loaded from id's ftp site.
You'll need to chmod +x and run the file. That will install the binaries and all the pk3 files besides pak0.pk3 which you can copy from either a Windows installation, your Windows Quake3 cd or even symbolic link to your Windows installation if you want.

Did you get the tin or just the cardboard box? I bought my copy the day (week?) it came out and got one of the nice tins 😀

A long time ago, a Loki rep emailed me and said that all Q3A Linux retail boxes are the tin box.

It seems that Loki cut down the list prices on its older games to bargain basement level due to slow sales and their Chapter 11 reorganization.

I wish I could buy the games from Amazon, but they are always out of stock (i.e. their distributor's database lists the title, but they don't actually restock it). I'd rather not buy from ebgames because I already have way too many web accounts, and don't care to create another one. Sounds like a silly reason, but *shrugs*

I downloaded the point release from www.quake3arena.com (1.31), installed it, and then copied the pak0.pak from the Windows CD to the /usr/local/games/quake3/baseq3 directory. It works like a charm. 🙂

I was thinking about ordering Tribes 2 for Linux from Loki. Anyone play T2 on Linux? How does it run?
