doesn't seem to be very many people playing it, although that could be because i was trying to play during the day.

Are You not in the beta test? (beta keys availible if not) It is an updated Q3 TA with improved graphics,reworked maps,balance and more noob friendly...

The game also play within a browser tab, very cool feature...
 
which browser are you guys using?...I was having some problems with firefox 3.....locks up every now and again...I disabled everything else that was running.

i don't see it as being noob friendly. i'm regularly getting my ass handed to me on servers that say the people are my skill level. i think the matching thing is broken or people found a way to lie so they can destroy lesser skilled players.
 
do you know what tier you ranked? prolly 3, and yeah every body seems grouped there. If you have invites email yourself one.When you start the training session tell the bot your a beginner and barely win. that puts you at tier 1 for each match.

There is a grease monkey script for firefox and Qlive that shows what tier you are for each game type...

no, i don't know what tier i am in and i don't have any invites.
 
Of course this isn't n00b friendly.

This is Q3 basically, & many of the best fps players in the world play Q3.

I'd say this is likely amongst the least n00b-friendly games out there...the difference between a good player in Q3 vs. a new player is astronomical, even moreso than in an Unreal Tournament game IMO.

To get good at a game like this, you either are naturally good at fast-paced fps, & get really good within a few months of constant playing, or for those of us less naturally skilled, you play for years to get close to those at the high skill level.

 
Well, after playing for a while I remembered why I quit playing straight DM in the first place.....memorize maps, memorize spawn times for weapons and armor and use explosive weapons splash damage to kill.

While fun for about 10 minutes...it gets kinda old....to whomever sent me the invite thanks anyway.

Don't feel bad. I haven't won a game yet (a couple seconds, but no winners).
I like a crowd. The bigger the game, the better- more chaotic. If I was worried about winning, I'd go for a game with no more than 10 people. It's just fun to play. I haven't tried anything but FFA.

you can do full screen, but i think thats it.

i have settings for 600x480, 800x600, and 1024, plus fullscreen. it's on the game options page.

played a couple games and found it technically cool (playing in a web browser, etc) but got my butt kicked. at least you can play against the computer.
