Quake III patch?

I was online playing Quake III the other day and joined an arena that had all of the weapons firing wicked fast. It was actually pretty cool. I want to do that too.
How do I do it? Is there a patch that I have to download?

Sounds like the Excessive mod. Do a search on google or planetquake, you'll find it I'm sure.

Here is the homepage for the Excessive mod.

You can get a "Tab" (*.qst) for GameSpy that will allow you to search out all of the active Excessive servers on the Internet. I do this all the time, and it works great. If you need help, PM me.

This is awesome! I love mowing everyone down with the rocket launcher. lol.

Are there any more cool mods out there for Quake III Arena or Quake III Team Arena?
