I'm not aware of any yet, but i'm sure they are coming.

Intrigued by your question, I skipped over to planetquake and saw this interesting news:

Quake 4 1.3 Point Release Information

With the upcoming release of the QUAKE 4 1.3 Point Release id Software tells us that they have been making great strides in tuning and tweaking the Q4 Multiplayer gaming experience, based on feedback from the people playing the game the most.

We?re implementing a number of community requested features and actual gameplay changes to QUAKE 4 gameplay which will provide a faster, smoother, and more highly competitive experience that we hope particularly appeals to those playing QUAKE 4 regularly and/or competitively, but also makes the game even more fun for new players. You can expect increased mobility and control, improved performance with ambient lighting options, and weapon alterations that advance playability and challenge competitive players.

We?ve noticed several LAN and competitive events considering what games to use for their future events, and we would encourage players and organizers to give 1.3 a try ? we think you?ll like it. We feel these competition friendly changes, coupled with an all-new gametype, a new weapon, and several professionally made maps will extend the life of QUAKE 4 for all players. We?re currently in a small, private beta test of the point release and hope to have it out publicly sometime before QuakeCon.

Keep your eye out for the upcoming Quake 4 1.3 Point Release, scheduled for release some time before QuakeCon 2006!

I think Quake 4 is a great buy because of the way the community will provide mods, total conversions, and because the game developer, iD, appears to be catering more to the demands of the online gaming community.

Sounds interesting. Hope they get this out before the 29th when I'm hosting a lanwar.

As far as this deal goes looks decent. Crazy that like 8 months ago when EVGA was giving this away free with 7800's you couldn't hardly sell the DVD version(OEM no Quake 2) for more the $20 shipping included on Ehay. I originally intended to sell mine to anybody for anything but couldn't and having finally played it some at lan parties am glad I didn't.

Ouch. Indeed that's bad. Still, might be better if you want a DVD edition. It beats the ~$35 I paid for mine from gogamer back when they offered it (right around the initial release of the game).

Hopefully there'll be something like an ExcessivePlus mod for quake4, that got me rehooked on quake3 again all last winter... real fun on good servers where ammo is throttled some, making a very fast paced game of skill (and not just firing streams of rockets cause thats gay)

Bought Farcry with it for 19.99 again, so after tax and shipping it's still a bit under 50, can't complain about two games for 25-ish.

If you have a Hastings Entertainment Center nearby, I ran across the DVD Director's version of Quake 4 there for $24.

Just to add a few more deals, at Office Depot I also came across Sims I Deluxe for $6, Tiger Woods 2006 $13, and Nascar Sim Racing for $10
on a clearance table. They apparently had The Sims Complete earlier in the week too. Picked up some of these to sell on consignment at
my local software store since they still sell all of them for full price.

That's a GREAT idea!

To digress, I bought a set of Henkel knives on eBay once. They wanted $400+ in the retail stores, but I got them on eBay for $250. I thought, "WTF? How can they do this and make any profit"? Later on, I found the answer...

When Service Merchandise went out of business, and they were selling everything for 90% off (or whatever), the only thing left was stuff like $400+ Henkel knives. So, these eBay'ers bought up everything they had!

Okay, back on topic... ;)

When you see stuff like those games on a clearance table, or a 'going out of business sale', it pays to snap them up, whether or not you plan on using them yourself. Makes good trading fodder, if nothing else!
