Quake 4 Not Installing!

Quake 4 Autoplays and then gives a Quake4.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvinence.

When I click on the data report I get

Error signature:

AppName: quake4.exe AppVer: 2.1.12.0 ModName: kernel32.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.2180 Offset: 0001eb33

I'm guessing that upon the installation of Daemon Tools ( i read something about kernels being disabeled ) I am not unable to install this game. If I'm right about this how do I enable the kernels. If I'm not right about this then what's wrong?

Quake IV (v1.0) uses Safedisc 4.6.

If you patch the game to v1.0.4 the issue should go away.

How can I patch it to v1.0.4 when I can't even install it to begin with?

Hmmm. I didn't have the same problem, but it got me to think of something that happened to me. When I had the game Pariah, I was able to install all the CD's but the last one. For some reason my CD writer wouldn't read the last CD. I then installed the game from my DVD writer and everything was fine. I still occasionally have a CD my Lite-On CD writer won't read, but my Plextor DVD writer will.

I'm guessing it has something to do with you optical drive, not the game.

Well, unfortunately I only have one DVD drive and this is a DVD cd.

Did you try running the setup executable directly instead of going through the autoplay menu?
