That's why you buy a 7800 GTX. Runs so smooth on my machine.......
I have a 7800 GT ($285AR from dell 😀), and 1600x1200 isn't smooth. But don't you see any problems with spending $400 on a 7800 GTX just to run a poorly optimized game? FEAR isn't even that great looking.

Are you making your statement based on the single-player demo that was released a month or so ago? If so, you may need to revise your statement.

Haha... Hahahaha. Hahahahahaha.

Thanks, I needed that. Heh. OK. Back on track...

Are there any B&M deals on the Director's Cut DVD edition? Fry's has it for sale, doesn't have it on sale. It's $54.99 over there.

I played the fear demo, at 1280x1024 4xaa/8xaf and frankly it wasn't horribly choppy. Though the kicker was, when I fired there was a second delay between the click and the bullet shooting out. I thought I had horrible aim with the weapons. For giggles I turned down the graphics to the lowest settings (640x480, low everything) and started to gun people down in a few shots. *phew FPS skills are still there*

I'm voting for Q4. With hopefully a good CTF mod, bundled or in the works once someone finishes the single player campaign. 🙂 I must have my Q4: Weapons Factory...

If you wouldn't have jumped into the middle of the conversation you would notice that I qualified that statement just a couple of posts up: "FEAR is such a slug. I'll consider it if there are significant performance improving patches."

You can laugh, but none of the sparingly used eye-candy in FEAR justifies the extremely poor performance of the game engine. The problem is very poor optimization. And if you know something about that being fixed, don't be shy about revealing it.

That would be cool if q4 was out today. I cant wait. But the bb paper says wed. Also the d3 engin which Q4 uses is awesome
and runs with everything on or close to the highest settings and i dont notice any slowdowns or hiccips. On the other hand
with the f.e.a.r. demo it fellt like was trying to run through mud and i have a 78gt and wasnt running with everything on and wasnt
@1600x1200. It just didnt seem to responsive and zippy. Oh and im referring to multiplayer. That was a slug the regular play was alright
Other than great graphics it didnt seem to fun. The cod2 demo was fun, although im going to wait awhile for that.

My Local Target has Fear for $42.88...
I think thats the best local price. How much are CC and BB selling it for?

The Best Buy in Greenwood, IN did for me no questions, no hassles. Great game!

I believe there is a performance patch out already for those disappointed in game performance. I think I read it @ bluesnews. Hey it's worth a look-see
