I was all psyched about Quake4 until I heard a rumor that it will be based off of Quake2. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO THE WORST OF THE QUAKES. I guess the rumor is based on the fact that only 1 picture from Quake4 has ever been released and it is a shot of one of the old enemies in Quake2 redone.

I was so hoping they would bring back Quake1...

totaly agree, there is only one quake and thats quake1 the others are some bad spinoffs

the only successor of quake1 is actually painkiller
 
Q2 was ass but Q3 is great.

Second, Raven is one of the premier developers who have used id technology over the years. They have come out with a bunch of great games including SOF, SOF2, Jedi Knight, Hexen (I believe) and others. I think they will put together quite a nice game with Quake 4. Time will tell, but if anyone is capable...Raven is.

Sadly I don't think any of those games had Linux ports from the beginning like id games do.
