Quake 3 vs. Unreal Tournament

Are you refusing to play either
until you get some replies on this forum?

Play some and then tell us which one is better.
 
UT capture the flags. Get on a really crowded server and get you ass fragged then come back and tell us your opinion.
 
Dude, you will get a bunch of replies why one or the other is better. Both are very good games. Play them both and have some fun, do as Vrangel said- play em both and then give us your review 🙂

Also download some UT mods, particularly Tac Ops if you like CS

UT is much better IMHO!

However, if you want to learn more about the historical UT vs. Q3 debate, just do a search!
 
Definitely play both. They're both great games, but imho, UT beats Q3 over several areas. Weapon choice, gameplay tweaks (2ndary fire especially, and the mutators, etc...), great diversity of maps, gameplay options (yes, Q3 now has good multiplayer options thru Team Arena, but I'm still a UT fan here)... BUT Q3 beats UT in terms of graphics, speed... I don't play Q3 cause I like to hear "HEAD SHOT" when I snipe someone's head off in UT 🙂

Why would anyone load 2 games and then ask "Which one should I play?"
Are these people so out-of-touch that can't make simple descions for themselvs. This is what our society is comming to.

Ok, while were on the subject I have a question. Dose anyone have trouble playing UT on Win2kPro. I have installed the updates, for both the OS and for UT. Before switching from WinMe the game ran perfectly. Not it pauses once i click something. Is there anything i can do for this?
 
UT used to be the king, until Q3TA came out. Now quake is back on top, as long as you have team arena too.

they are still both great games
 
q3 is obviously the better game.. im not going to write a page full of arguments.. but are there any UT LAN tournaments with prize money totaling $100,000?? i think not.
 
Thank you everyone for your replies to my question. PC Freak, I didn't realize you would blow a fuse. It just a game after all. My life doesn't revolve around it. Based on your reponse, it seems that you are the one "out of touch".

Mattlock, PC_Freak is correct. why ask people which you should play? you have them both, you should be able to make up your mind for yourself.
 
lol, it seems at least once a month on at least one of the bbs that i frequent there is some form of this question. heh, i love one mod for Q3 in particular CCTF [link is in my sig] so i'd have to say Q3 is better [as i always say] but i have played both, and own both [legitimatly]. i'm not too familiar with the mods out there for UT, but there are some fantastic mods for Q3, Classic CTF, Corkscrew, Weapons Factory Arena, Urban Terror, and afew that haven't been released, but will be coming out, Navy Seals & Tribal CTF. if you have Q3 i suggest taking a look at the great mod scene, as carmack thinks mods are one of the best features for q3 and made it very easy for people to make them.

Thanks for your reply. My purpose in asking the question was simply to maximize the very little time I have to play games. I'd rather get other's opinion's rather than spending time on both at first. They were both given to me as gifts, I didn't really intend on having two games at the same time to play. Hopefully I will play them both when I get around to it. My time is precious like everyone else's.

For those that responded with their suggestions, thanks. For those that were "offended" by my simple question, it's not my problem and I don't apologize for that. For those that had time to criticize my question, you have too much time on your hands and I suggest you do something positive with your minds rather than find faults with others.

[rant]I wasted $30 on Q3 because everyone kept going on about the *killer mods*. Unfortunetly, Q3's mods suck compared to UT's, IMO. As for TA, it should have been included in Q3 to begin with, I'll save my money thank you.[/rant]

Q3 has some good points, but IMO UT offers so much. You can play UT using the same 10 maps for a year and never play the same type of game twice, using Mods/Mutators.
