Quake 3 - FPS

Hi all:

Q3 Arena has been around for a long time. Just wondering what is a good value for FPS in Q3 Arena... I run Q3 Arena under Windows 2000, w/a Athlon 1ghz, 384mb RAM, and CL Annihilator Pro, I get about 90fps on average, at 1024x768, 32 bit color... can people post their experiences here? How about another good thread! =)

It really depends on your system and configuration. On my C566@850MHz, V3 3000@180MHz, 256MB SDRAM, I get around 90FPS(demo001) too on my own custom 800x600 configuration which has pretty good image quality.
If you mean what's a good playable FPS value, I'd say quite a bit above 60FPS, perhaps in the 70s or 80s on average.

I have an Tbird 900, 256 ram and a geforce2gt 32mb (also CL), I play at 1280*1024*32 and all settings maxed out. It plays great! Haven't checked my FPS tho but its perfectly playable.

P3-927/384MB RAM/ASUS V7700 GTS (210/375) + 6.26 drivers + Q3 (1024/32-bit/full eye candy) = 97 fps (demo 1)

all features maxed out...@ 1024x768x32 i get 86.5 fps on demo 1 ...
i think...others have gone to the high 90's...something must be wrong with my computer...ugghhhh

call me stupid but how do you see your FPS in quake3 again...😱
I remember something with timedemo 1 but forgot the rest.

To see the fps in q3a...
bring down the consul with (~)
type cg_drawfps 1
enter
type timedemo 1
enter
hit the play button on demo 1 ...
and 2 i guess...it works for both
after it's done...bring down the cons. again
it will display the time like 14.5 secs 98 fps
and stuff like that...

can you tell me how to get rid of the fps on the right hand corner?

/cg_drawfps shows the dynamic framerate rather than an average. Together with the /timedemo demo runs, you can get a clear picture of your performance. I leave /cg_drawfps on always.

1024x768x2xfsaax16bit 55-59fps on a Voodoo5 5500. It chokes on 32 bit color or 4xfsaa. Its an Athlon 850 on Ka7 (KX133) 256megs PC133 7.5ns cas2.
