Quake 3 causes monitor to "squeal"

A high pitched squeal emits from my monitor every time I run Q3 Arena. This seems to be the only program that causes this (even the team arena add-on doesn't) and so I thought I would post this on the software forum first. Anyone else have a similar problem and/or a remedy?
 
Your monitor doesn't like the resolution and/or refresh rate.

It shouldn't be harmful. If it's annoying, simply switch to a different resolution from within the game - or upgrade to a better monitor. 🙂
