My system configuration is shown below. When i first got my Radeon it ran as smooth as butter. Quake 3 in 1024x768 was very smooth. But now I find that when playing, it seems to stutter....like a half second delay at points...I dont think its the HD as i defrag regularly. Even when playing at 800x600 it seems to stutter. Especially when their is action on the screen near enemies. Only thing different I can think of that I did was use Norton Speedisk to put quake 3 as well as windows in the beginning of the HD to speed up access. Any suggestions? With my system setup there should be no reason why quake 3 should not run smoothly at 800x600 at 32bit.

let me ask few questions on that. 1. stutter on online games or single player? 2.do u have cable modem or networkcard? 3.is the ip address pre assigned or set on auto? 4.is irq shared with other components for Radeon? (for some it causes problems).

No this is single player mode with bots and not online. I got frustrated to the point where I couldnt isolate the problem so i just went ahead and re-formatted. Everything is peachy now :) sigh...good ol format to the rescue once again.

Yes but you still don't know what caused the problem in the first place. It might happen again at anytime.

Yeah but i don't have time to isolate the problem especially when this occurs on a system with pretty much all brand new main parts. maybe if i had the time i would...but since i format regularly anyway, it was ok :)
