We've been playing weekly games of LMCTF every week since last August. Just finished our first season of competitive play. Getting a pretty decent following resulting in 18 player CTF games of quake 2 every week plus lots of smaller games any other random evening.

Any one is welcome, we have vent and 3 or 4 servers plus a very helpful community on facebook.

I used to play Q2 Zoid's CTF religiously back in the day... what's the difference between the 2 mods? Was in some top ranked clans way back when...man some great memories..

My reflexes aren't what they used to be in my old age. my memories real fuzzy...does LM have a grapple?

Ha I loved Quake 2... I might check this out at some point.

I was never in a Quake 2 clan, but I was in IRC's #quake I think undernet... allll the time back in '96 and maybe '95... we formed what I believe was the first Quake 1 clan, Unholy Alliance... I was a founding member of that, but I didn't stay long.

One of the channel moderators, Disruptor (Christian Antkow) went on to work for id software.

does LM have a grapple?

Yep! No telling how many hours/years I spent playing Q2. I remember looking forward to Q3, but once released, I just couldn't get into it. I continued Q2 for some time until most of the player base moved onto Q3. If memory serves, I moved on from this time killer to the next, CS.

Any good mods for Q2? Namely graphic enhancements, the game play was fine!

i just found my copy and reinstalled the game due to this thread... and jizzed my pants playing dm. this game is so superior to any modern fps its not even funny!!! thank you so much for giving me a great suggestion for a game to play on my day off. brings back such good memories. hope we can play soon!

i can only play in windowed mode in windoze 7. and my mouse sensitivity is out of control, seems like there is some type of ingame mouse acceleration on my mouseview too. i forget is this normal and is there a way to turn it off?

What version of Windows?

I've kept two old 3.0 Northwood based rigs just for older games, one with a X800XT PE and the other with a X1950. I still have a 9800Pro as well since I read that modern graphic cards don't play well with old games.

LM is a high-speed CTF mod. we have LOTS of support to get you going. including one zip that has EVERYTHING(minus q2) you need to get going. our FB group is under LMCTF... we have a pretty organized weekly tuesday night 3 hour session. even if there's not a full server just post on FB that you're about to hop on and other will join shortly.

great little community. we have SEVERAL youtube videos up of matches. here's one that show you a little bit about the game.

i'm running r1q2 on windows 7 64-bit without any problems.

just check out the main server we have called erebus LMCTF(check out gametracker.com for real-time updates)...

also, LM is off-hand grapple. railing and grappling at the same time = greatness. 15 years later this is the only game that still gets my blood pumping chasing a flag carrier or slipping out of a base with a few defenders. every one else shares the same feeling, hence why we are playing this 15 years later. 90% of the people are the same names that played back in the good ol days. any one is welcome. we will help you sort any problem out on FB. super active group.

Quake 2, the reason I bought a Voodoo 2.

LMCTF ate up way to much of my time.

How does it run on Windows 7? Where can I get it?

Unfortunately, Quake 2 was a little after my time. I did have a lot of fun playing deathmatch with Doom, Doom 2, and Quake though. Quake 2 was released while I was in college, so I had no time for video games.

runs fine on windows 7. i have a shortcut on my desktop that takes me right to the main LM server. read my posts above. once you aquire q2(not that hard) grab the LMCTF all in one zip.. join the FB group for support. wide screen works, etc.

what was your handle back then? we've got a dedicated group of people and have had weekly games(as of late 18 Players or so) on every tuesday since august of last year. we just finished season one(my team one yay) last week. there were 4 teams of 4 players. we should have 5 teams this season. we have a draft system also. if you liked quake 2 or LM then plealse stop by the FB group(under LMCTF) and join us for a game. q2 when every one has a low ping is such a blast.

Agreed...I couldn't get into Q3 like Q2 until they remade some of the Q2CTF maps like Bleety's Blues (sp?), etc?

I think from Q3 I tried Q4 and didn't like it and stopped playing ID shooters altogether and got into the WW2 shooters like Medal of Honor and CoD.

wow, having flashbacks of the Smelter map in Q2...it was crazy intense.

Quad Damage + Railgun = awww jizz....

I've gotta think my Quake 2 CD is somewhere packed in one of my boxes but don't have any faith in it still working. Do they sell Q2 anywhere where it can work ok on modern PC's or do you have to buy the original and tweak it some. I know, I'll google it later when I have some more time but thought I'd ask. If I can get it working I'll definitely join up!

I've tried Quake live but it doesn't have the same feel as Quake 2. I have the original copy of Quake 3, I'd rather just install that and mod it up and play than Quake live. Granted I only played the free version but everything felt a little limited.

we just played Bleety's Blues map this past tuesday.. but one of our mappers(we've had 2 or 3 new maps made) made it more LM-friendly removing the slow doors and modding a few things. we have some dedicated mappers pumping out new stuff and tweaking old stuff.

Sorry if this is too off topic but wow ... I just checked to see if there are any quake games on steam, after reading Furyoffive's post and they are trying to sell Q3 for 20 flippin' euros, when you can play it for free online (not to mention that nobody plays the commercial version anymore and it IS a multiplayer game, unless you want to waste that much money to frag bots offline...).
