Quake 2 players - tournament/weekly games

One of the biggest Quake 2 communities (as far as I am aware) that is still active can be found over at - tastyspleen.net

They have a number of Texas-based servers: FFA DM, TDM, Xatrix, Railz, other weird mods, etc.

Awesome. I remember playing that mod quite a bit.
Then we found Action Quake 2... and that took over.
It was basically the precursor to CounterStrike.

Quake 2 Weaponsfactory was my GAME!

I was a big QWTF guy so WF naturally was what I loved.

Also Bought a voodoo2 just cause of quake 2.

I think the uake 2 engine is the best fps feeling engine ever. Physics felt spot on for jumping and friction values.

I have been playing quake 2 off and on since its inception....
Use to have a 50+ member clan my q2 name was Jedi_General.
We had a blast when MSN had their old gaming zone!
We would spend all hours of thew night playing quake2.....
Those were the days!!

Even though I play a lot of Quake Live I was sad to see that they dummied down Quake live to try to appeal to the masses.

For example any descent rigg can play quake live....the lower your ping the more advantage you have if you have any skillzs.

In the old days Quake2 was very dependant upon your eqipment.....even though a low ping helped a lot.

But mainly Quakelive is capped at 125 fps and very ping dependant if you are going to be competitive.

I remember buying a voodoo2 to supplement the video card that i had.....as soon as I hooked the voodoo2 to the other card i was like blazing fast...

Fun times let me tell you!!

ACME Railwarz CTF and L-Fire CTF servers are both busy 7 nights a week 7PM eastern time until pretty late for the past few months in 2014
