Ownage with tearing. I woudn't want to try Vsync with quad-SLI, let alone regular SLI. I'd like Vsync to be improved on both ends, but that really is just a matter of getting faster monitors I guess.

A faster monitor doesn't really help. I got all the tearing and apparent choppy performance even at 200hz at 640x480, except in some OpenGL games. It's some driver problem with SLI itself.

This is nice, but I'm much less interested in SLI these days than I used to be, after going through all the problems I had with it.

Dunno, don't feel the urge to buy another one just yet. Somehow it feels too enthusiastic to me. They should improve the 7950 drivers though :)

Doh. Good point. How I forgot that after just commenting on it in another thread is beyond me.

I haven't used an SLI rig on a regular basis for quite a while now, what are the big issues that are still outstanding? v-sync was working pretty well for the most part even back when I had my 7800GTX SLI rig (I sold them in Dec 2005), and overall SLI worked well enough that if I wasn't thinking about it I wouldn't have known there were two cards in there instead of one really fast one.

I don't recall experiencing any noticable tearing with my brief encounter with the GX2, that's why I'm asking. I also know for sure that I had v-sync working in FEAR with my 7800GTX SLI set. I do remember that I had to play with v-sync a bit... Some apps responded better to forcing v-sync in the CP, others worked better letting the app control the v-sync, and sometimes I just turned on v-sync in both.

Darnit beat me to it!

Nice find anyway . I hope this driver actually works for the rich people. I'm gonna stick with my olde 7800GT for a while.

Added support for VSync on Direct3D games when running NVIDIA SLI.

NVIDIA added VSync support back in October 2005.

True, they have added support for it. I'm just speaking of my experience when using it. The frame rates would be fine and no tearing would occur, but laggy and choppy as heck. I thought it was a CPU problem or driver confliction at first. Stable Opty 148 @ 3 Ghz and freshly installed OS with newest drivers and a patched BF2 proved that wrong. That is one of the main reasons I am probably going to stick with a single card for a while.

They gotta start somewhere though.
