Quad Monitors

Not sure if the motherboard of your Dads PC is Z77 chipset or not, however a couple of these at $30 bucks would sort him out...

However you will have to establish if the motherboard has 2 GPU slots....if not, you may have to get just one and some adapters to convert the HDMI port to DVI and include the integrated GPU in the solution.
All the 6xx series drive 3 monitors..

What size displays are you going to use?
 
get any AMD card with a displayport or minidisplayport and buy a displayport hub ti expand multiple displays. you can run 2 off of the vga/dvi and then up to 4 more on the displayport hub. since no gaming is involved, you can probably find a 6670 or something.
 
Does the current integrated card support dual displays simultaneously (usually that's true for integrated graphics)?

If so, then you can buy any cheapo video card to support its own dual displays. Maybe an AMD HD5450 on sale for $15 after-rebate, or an Nvidia equivalent (620?)?

Your dad's not gaming across all 4 monitors, so you have the ability to mix and match two different cheap video cards; you don't need to buy one expensive video card with 4 display outputs. It's OK to mix and match, although try to avoid mixing Nvidia and AMD if possible.
 
Click the link in my sig. Three monitors on the desk while the forth was on a wall mount. As far as output is concerned. There are a number of ways to get four displays.
