Quad gpu's!

Was just thinking.. with dual gpu boards coming soon.. why don't they sli that! ? 🙂

Just imagine a quad 6800 ultra setup 😀

Ofcourse that would require probably 600W+ of psu power. 🙂

Maybe there's only 2 possible links (ie: only 2 GPU's can be connected up, like with Opteron processors)
And FYI, I believe that quad R300 GPU's (Radeon 9700's) on one board has already been done.

dguy.. most ppl consider 300$ too much to spend on a gfx card without considering ppl who don't as idiots.

Some ppl just have loads more money than do others. So let them spend that money, pay sales tax etc.

I'm unfortunately not one of those ppl. Hope to be though 🙂

90% of graphics card sales comes from "GF4mx-range" cards. Based on that, even regular sli setups of today are a niche market. The only reason why they are doing 2 cores on one card is because they are the much higher yield 6600 cores which they have much better, cost efficient success rates under manufacturing for. Therefore, a 6600 dual card costs less to manufacture for a company like Gigabyte then one 6800u card.

Its already here effectively, i.e. the 6600 is essentially (rops not included) half a 6800, and the 6200 is half a 6600, so you could say that the 6800 is 4 x 6200.

Nvidia is probably already trying to figure it out. It's probably just pretty much drivers so I don't see how they could pass that up.
