Q's about IE

I have two little problems in IE I'd like to fix.

First: Sometimes when I open IE, the status bar at the bottom is gone. I have to go into View and manually turn it back on. It appears to be random. Sometimes I get the status bar, and sometimes I don't. It always comes on when I tell it to by going to View. I just want it to stay on all the time without having to manually turn it on.

Second: When I add a favorite, it will use the custom icon of the website (if they have one). But after a reboot, it reverts back to the standard blue "e", generic IE icon. I'd like the web sites' custom icons to stay in my favorites and not revert back to the "e".

Using IE 6.0 and Win XP Home. See sig for other hardware info if necessary.

Thanks.
