I just purchased the QNAP TS-251+ NAS but have not opened up the box yet. I'm still wondering if this Honnettek dual-bay RAID enclosure I have listed the link to will be suitable for watching movies in the same room as the enclosure? Also I'm not sure if the lights on this Hornettek RAID enclosure will be too intrusive if the unit is near my TV. It as a 5cm fan on it but I'm not sure if it will be too intrusive for movie watching. http://www.hornettek.com/hdd-enclos...dual-3-5-hdd-enclosure-w-raid-ht-3210apc.html

LOL. "What do you mean, there's no app for that?"
When I was a kid, my mom would take any of my toys with lights or sounds, take them apart, rip out the noisemaking parts, and some of the lights, and then put them back together and give them to me.

So I had a fire truck that drove around in circles, bouncing off of walls, etc., perfectly silently.

Is it normal for the power brick of a NAS to make squealing noises? I heard squealing coming from the power brick from about 4 ft away from my ears in a quiet room with just the NAS running. Also is it normal for the power brick to make very quiet squealing noises that I can hear from 4 inches away from my ear in a quiet room when the NAS is turned off?

Power bricks do emit coil whines, if the coils are not properly glued down. And they still draw some power even if main unit is off.

How much you can hear depends on your hearing and distance.
