Hi!
I'm setting up a liquid-cooling system in the near future and have been doing a lot of research on it in the past few days. I read about quick disconnects, which seem like they'd be a very useful feature to have. I got the idea from this thread:

http://forums.legitreviews.com/about22692-20.html

It looks like he just has standard barbs on his waterblock though, with a small bit of tube coming out and attaching to the QDC. I'm going to be using a Swiftech Apogee XT waterblock, and what I'm hoping for here is a set of QDCs directly attached to the waterblock. I've been looking at the Koolance VL3N series. It's a bit confusing though, it seems that they have about 30 different SKUs for their QDCs. The two items at the top here:

http://www.koolance.com/water-cooling/default.php?cPath=62_60_106

appear to be what I'm looking for (along with female parts to attach to the tubes), but I was hoping someone could tell me with certainty which one to get.

Thanks in advance...

The difference is threaded, and barb size.

You need 1 female and 1 male. Doesnt matter on the tips, its whatever you prefer.
I however like the threaded versions because you can add your own barbs to it like this:

However others have barbs, and others will have compressions.
Its all in whatever you prefer.

OK, sorry if this is a dumb question... basically I could just take the left side of the piece in the picture and screw it directly into the waterblock? It appears that the only threaded part in the VL3N (no-spill) series is a male part, will this make a difference? I'm guessing that what I'll need is two of these for the block:

and two of these for the hoses:

(I'm going to use Tygon 7/16 ID 5/8 OD)

edit: Thanks Skinnee, I actually had read that before you posted it. It was very informative (it's what made me decide on the VL3N), but I'm just trying to figure out if these can attach directly to the waterblock.

ahh... ok, thats easier then

You have the male part right if you want the male to mount/screw into the block... but the female end you chose is 3/8" ID. 7/16" ID tube is larger than 3/8". You might have to go with the 1/2" barb end female part in order to use 7/16" tubing.

Oops, yeah, you're right. Thanks for the help, I think I've got it now.

Though I wish there were a female threaded part. It just seems weird... like the male part should be on the hose. Maybe I'm the weird one... :p
