Q9550 169.99 Micro Center - Instore pickup only

Willing to pay for gas, time and shipping

Do you know how much gas is ?? Its 3.00 dollars a Gallon 87 unleaded regular, to get there it would cost roughly $65 dollars or so round trip. Not to mention shipping and Time. Your better off buying it off newegg.

Thinking about picking one of these up, site says "Limit 1 per household" however.....pm me if interested, can't guarantee I can get more than 1 though.

As mentioned in another thread, I sold my Q6600 and replaced it with this for a net cost under $50. I'm not using a high end cooler as I like to keep my computer cool and quiet. Had my Q6600@3.0 undervolted at 1.23v.

Still working on my Q9550 overclock. It's at 3.6 right now undervolted. Temps are cooler than my Q6600. Will probably try out 3.8 and 4.0 if I can keep it cool and quiet enough.

Easiest and best upgrade ever.

how is this cpu compared to the i5?

i5 is pretty much better at everything. Faster at stock speeds, better over-clocker, consumes less power, produces less heat. Don't get me wrong the Q9550 is a great chip and this is a good price for a drop in upgrade if you already have a 775 Mobo. But it doesnt make any sense for a new system build when compared to the i5. Not to mention that 775 is a dead socket.

I picked up two of these today. Cambridge store had 60+ of them.

Now I just need to sell my NIB Q9400s that I picked up four months ago. at Microcenter, before they started having quanties of Q9550s on sale that you could actually buy.
