Q9300 and 4870 + 520HX

Well, I just want to be on the safe side here.

I'm planning on getting a new system with 1 HD, 1 optical drive, a Q9300 (or 9450), HD 4870, 4GB RAM, and an ASUS p5q.

I'm planing on OCing, but I was wondering if a corsair 520HX is good enough to get the q9300 to around 3.2GHZ without any problems. the 620HX will stretch me a bit over than what I want to pay.

You can probably get a 650TX for the price (or less) of the 520HX.

What's the difference between the TX and HX PSUs?

And will I be able to OC higher with the TX? I don't really care that the HX is modular.

Modular is the difference. No you will not be able to overclock more with one

Well if modular is the only difference I guess I'll go with the 650TX.

The 520w model would be plenty for your setup if you didn't want to go any higher.

Also, if modular is the only difference between the 520hx and the 650TX, I don't think there's a reason to get the 520hx.

I have the rig in my sig running all off a 500watt PSU that has 3 harddrives, a 4870, and an overclocked quad to 3.5GHz and it's been running completely fine.

650 Watt version for $75 after MIR

As a side note, 520 and 620 versions are actually Seasonic power supplies. 650 and 750 versions are made by CWT.

The 520 version can probably handle 4850s in Crossfire and a 3.0ghz Quad core.

The 520 has plenty of power, but if you want to get the TX it will be cheaper and won't hurt anything.
