Hello to all... so my system was born in Nov 22 2007.

I love it and I will not upgrade anything until 2020.

As you can see in the first line of the sig that is my vcore, with 0.0 absolutely no drop.

Whats bothering me is I can take it to 1.43v and do 3703Mhz , If I want anything higher 3760 is max OC on this GO chip I have to use 1.496 .....

The temp difference is like avg 5c idle from 1.44v and 1.496v

Also what I failed to mention is my cpu is not lapped and the temp difference is 8c soo if my temp is 30c idle on core 3 and 4 , its 38 38c on other core set.

I wouldn't even asking these questions or start the thread if the temps were even cuz the side that has good contact is 8c lower at all times idle or load.....

Another question. What is a good idle temp and what is a good load temp for this chip. Ive had it for years and never new nothing about what temps should be. Thanks

This 60Mhz extra and 7Mhz on the BUS to 470 is it really worth it for me to do this. Should I drop it down or as long as temps are good stay with the high voltage. Thanks all in advance.....:awe:

Not worth it IMO. I'm running a Q6600 (GO) on a P5Q Deluxe and ran into the same wall you're running into. Heat wasn't really the issue for me...but I asked myself, for 24/7 usage, does a 200 mhz increase really justify a huge bump in VCORE? (When I first got my chip, I really wanted a nice 3.6). My CPU hit that wall at 3.4 (1.375v), but I'm on air and I see that you are on water. But the wall exists nevertheless, law of diminishing returns. I can hit 3.6 with manageble load temps, but need to jump the juice to 1.45v. But as a gamer, the FPS gains were negilible, and since I run my OC 24/7, and like you I want to keep my PC for a few years, I decided to be a bit conservative with this particular build. Hell, my Q6600 can take just about anything I can throw at it, and it's going on 2+ years old.

Good comment Grinch good guy you are. Yes game FPS is same @ 2.4 and 3.6Ghz

at least my 3dmark was maybe 200 less , games were same speed from UT3 to Gears of War 2 to MW2 , my framerate is the same. the CPU is not the bottleneck the bottleneck is the GPU. :)

I use a q6600 oced to 3.6 at 1.39 volts. To hit 3.8 i have to use something like 1.48 volts o_O

If i were you i would probably just keep it at 3.7.

I have a Q6600 G0 at 3.6 on air. I have to give it 1.325v to get it that high, and temps approach 90C under linpack, with a Tuniq Tower 120. It will do 3.3Ghz at stock voltage, and temps are much lower (70C max?)

Thanks all replies. Hey virtuallarry 90c is way to hot Im worried your CPU will blow up one day or have a short short life. What I don't understand is the max temp before the Intel feature where the comp shuts down when CPU gets to hot is @ 85c .. You reach 85c your cpu shutsdown to protect the CPU. I dont know why yours is not shutting down and how you got it to 90c,, 100c is tjmax -15 offset which is 85c for this chip.. anyhow clean your CPU HSF and blow all dust away. Also when you game your going to need a high fan speed which Im guessing your using. anyhow let us know if you can take down that load temp.... 70c would be much better. good luck, let me/us know.. Also I suggest you open the side door of your case that will bring down temps good very good. Keep your room at 74c if you can. Winter will come and your temps will fall down more. good luck,,

Well, it's not at 90C during normal operation. Normal load temps are like 70-75C. Linpack just puts a lot of extra stress on the CPU.

i dont think your cpu will last with 1.5vcore til 2020.

Also i dont think your ram will hold out til 2020.

Also the world will end in 2012... so we wont make it to 2020...
^ last line only is sarcasm.

Running a q6600 in 2020 would be like running a 300MHz PII today...

True, but the Q6600 is an awesome CPU. Mine is three years old and honestly, I don't feel there's anything worth upgrading to at the current time.

Best priced CPU of the 2000's imo.
