Q6600 temps

I just built a new rig with a Q6600, giga DS3P, and tuniq tower. Idle my core temps are between 30C and 37C. Is that fairly normal? Thanks

Or are all the cores near each other and they dance from 30-37C with no more then a delta of 4 across all 4 cores?


Dont you love how complicated a quadcore can get, and how easly questions like this can be lead to complicated ones 😀
 
What speeds are you running at?

Ambient Temp?

Load temps? (using latest version of prime or something else that loads all 4 cores)

Looks good though.
 
I'm running stock speeds still. It is showing 2.4ghz, 1.300v. The mobo speeds are still stock also. Ambient room temp is about 75F. I havent tested load temps with prime yet. But idle Core #0: 37C, Core#1: 31C, Core#2: 28C, and Core#3: 37C. What do you think? Also my ram timmings are stock 5-5-5-18, freq 400. Is that normal? thanks for the help
 
its a classic case of uneven heatsink base/IHS. your inner cores are cooler while your outer cores are warmer, which is indication of a convex base/IHS. This isn't a big deal as long as under load your temperatures even out.

as far as your ram, seems like you are running DDR2-800 at Jedec timings. If you bought memory that can perform at better timings and different voltage, you should go into the bios and input those settings.
 
they are crucial ballistix ddr2-800 4gb. what is uneven heatsink base? the actual heatsink touching the cpu isn't even?
 
the base plate of the heatsink or the IHS of your cpu are not 100% flat, but they are convex to some degree, hence the middle makes better contact and your 2 inner cores have better temps.
