I'm getting ~60C load @3.20GHz, ~65C load @3.30GHz with Scythe Andy HSF. (<- Highly recommended for folks who are looking for traditional push-down HSF. But the stock fan is somewhat weak)

I though I'd dig this old thread up vs starting a new one.

I just got a Q6600 I have a Ninja revB

I'm really struggling at stock to keep the temps down as measured by core temp/everest

at the moment idle I've got:

51,48,52,54dC

under load (4x prime's small FFT's) after 10mins

78,78,84,84

Ambient ~ 22dC Mobo (PK5) ~ 39dC

these seem why high??

Yeh, I though it was v hot vs everyone else, seem I have a bit of a crappy chip athough it seemed to be a good lot number.

I haven't done any messing at all I was worried about my temps, I wish I'd not sold my phase change cooling now :(

I wasn't too impressed with heatsink finish, I'm sure some lapping will help

Thanks!

I was getting similar temps with my quad and scythe ninja. I actualy hit about 88c in core temp with orthos.

Ninja has a pritty poor fan when AT tested, maybe with a better fan I can get better temps.

Water/Phase seems the way to go though.

Seemed pretty smooth, it had no trouble keeping my E6600 at 50c or less full load at 3.1ghz.

....

i think id cry if my quads went up that high.

Currently my new Q6600 is probably my hottest chip. My Xeons seem to run a tad bit cooler then the Q's.

I have 3 Quads. And i'll most likely get a 4th when the new g0 stepping arrives in september.

But

Q6600 -> 400x9
X3220 -> 420x8
X3210 -> 420x8

My X3220 sucks hardcore. :

@yoxxy woot i think i have more quads then you now :D
