Ever since I got my second Q6600 with a vid of 1.262v, I can't believe the results this one gave me. @ 3.2 all temps go no higher than 51c with a voltage setting in bois of 1.3375v. Been running solid for a week now @ full load with 2 clients (f@h) and not even a hick-up.
My other Q6600 had a vid of 1.325v and it was not a good over clocker at all. 3.0 was max for that chip. And Both with a Tuniq sitting on it.

I can go past 3Ghz no matter what voltages, I reckon my memory is holding me back.

Do you have all those retarded options turned off that ASUS loves to put in thier BIOS to hinder OCing? (Im looking at you, Transaction Booster)

About the same here...40,43,39,40 for cores 1-4 & 34 for the CPU temp. Room ambient is 30c, so considering that, I think it's ok.
I just got done doing Prime95 a couple of times on my Q6700...once 400x8 & the second 333x10. I tried 400x9, but it would do that. Load temps reached 60c on a couple of the cores @ 333x10, but @ 400x8 they were 58,58,56,56.
Guess i'll either try bumping it up to 405x8 as i've heard high FSB & lower multiplier is better than the opposite...I dunno. VCore is presently @ 1.344. Don't really wanna take it any higher if I can help it.

I run Orthus for 5 hours, no errors, CPU and memory blend test. I run prime 95 and 5 minutes in I blue screen. I have gone back to stock :-(

Is there any options in particular that I should look for to switch off?

I will be happy with 2.8 Ghz, I am going to be a pain and ask what voltages for mem & and CPU should I use ?

I leave mem to auto and change the FSB to 333....Grrr I may give up and buy a new MB + E8660 + 8GB

Im in the same boat as you , I need something very cold and quiet, I dont mind price, just not water cooling. I was looking to spend £50 ($100) at www.overclockers.co.uk

I've tried the Big Typhoon, Tuniq Tower, Xigmatek HD-S1283 & now a Noctua NH-U12P. Out of all of those, I think the Noctua's my favorite...not only for the cooling, but also because if I want to swap out CPU's, I don't have to take the motherboard off due to its' mounting design. Cooling-wise, it's about the same as the Xigmatek, but i've not lapped it yet (even though it does appear to have a smooth, flat base, it's still nickel-plated).
