Q6600, stock temps r no good

Im using the Stock intel HSF and it took me a long time to position it right ( or it felt right) on my p35-ds3l. Got everything up and running on stock, but while checking in Coretemp/lavalys everest ( give same temp readings) i discover my idle temps for each core from 0 to 3 go :

45, 45, 38, 42 Voltage: 1.10 Everest aditionally gives some single CPU temp reading of
34 idle

Using the stress tester within Everest that maxes all cores i get these results 0 to 3:

85, 81, 70, 65 Voltage 1.25 that single CPU temp read ~60

I find this idle/load difference to be too drastic

Want to get started at my first OC and try 3GHZ, but these temps worry me to try, dont understand why load is so high, im using the rocketfish case with the 3 120mm fans etc so airflow is good, intel HSFseemed to be pushed down on far enough, but i had to retry many times to mount it so unconfortable... and i followed this procedure here from intel youtube vid so i installed mobo to case first then mount HSF rather than doing it while its outside.

should i redo this HSF istall all over again? which i dread to do

not really sure thanks for any help

I had difference on temps over 10c as well on my first install mainly one core really high and it was because one of the pins wasnt fully down. If you undo them should be able to tell if one or two are not tight like the others.
Hope that helps

It sounds like you don't have your heatsink completely seated. These LGA 775 heatsinks can't be mounted with the motherboard in the case; they require an extreme amount of pressure to fully seat, at least for the first few times they're mounted. And you're definitely going to need a good aftermarket heatsink, for overclocking a quad.

if those temps are even halfway right....reinstall is not even a question here (assuming you also applied thermap paste right?????)..since those temps are already way at/above throttle/shutdown temps..
I am running ~3600 1.46Vcore and barely hit 70 under OCCT load...you hit 85 1.25V... Your HSF doesnt seem to be seated right at all, also those temps vary way too much core/core. 5deg is normal. Continue running like this and say goodbye to your cpu 🙂

thanks for all replies i reseated and temps got within normal range 62 full in everets 69 in prime, i tried OC went straight to try a 3GHZ OC but miserable results reboot within 10 minutes, drop 100mhz, same thing again and temps sky rocket all with the prime test with vcore at 1.3 something, Apparently vista booting up when i was attempting this got significantly slower, i suppose a refomat will undo this

I didnt even bother to try lighter OC, just decided to stick with stock speed and lower voltage so temps are even better in this condition now. I heard people succeeding at 3GHZ intel HSF and i thought it would be possible with a G0, so if i get an aftermarket cooler then this would definately be possible?

yeah if you grab an aftermarket cooler it should be pretty easy to reach 3ghz. if you dont want to spend too much money, i would recommend the arctic freezer pro which should go for around 20-30bucks.
