right now i have my q6600 OCed to 3.2 GHZ. my temps that are showing in core temp are:

(all in Celsius) 43 40 37 38
these temps are after running Prime95 for 30-40mis

my idle temps are 23 21 16 21

is it normal to have such a big difference in temp from one to core to another? (6-7degrees)

also how much farther do u think ill be able to push this chip if i have these temps for 3.2GHZ?

Those temps are very cool. As long as you are under 60 you are very safe. Even under 70 is alright to me.

Those are great temps.

What's your Vcore at 3.2GHz (BIOS set) and what is your G0's VID? Just curious, I too am running G0 on DS3L with Tuniq.

I bet you are a candidate for some 9x400 (3.6GHz) fun. You got yourself another 20C of room to overclock. Enjoy! (lucky bastard...)

Which version of CoreTemp? I'd be suspicious of an idle temp of 16C unless your ambient is particularly low.

3-4 deg difference between cores is normal. if you get 7+ deg. difference between cores then you probably applied thermal paste wrong.

@3.2ghz with those temp are beautiful to me, my Q6600 @ 3.5 - 1.3..v : Idle coretemp; 37,37,35,34 - load is around 50-55

WHAT PROGRAM r u using to read those temps? 16C is a bit low, unless ur room temps are way cold

Right now I have my voltages set to auto but in CPU-Z my c-core is showing 1.312V. Ive been following graysky's guide on here to OC my card so I haven't gone back and turned down the voltages yet. My vid is 1.2625v.

I'm using coretemp version 0.97.1

I keep my computer in the furnace room and it is probably 10 degrees Fahrenheit cooler in there than in my room. Thats probably a big factor for my low temps.

Just for the record I tried applying thermal paste by applying a small straight line horizontally across the middle and then using the heatsink to spread the paste. I will never use this method again its too difficult to spread the paste evenly. I'm sticking with the credit card method. I decided to give it a shot because I knew eventually id try lapping my chip and heatsink because I knew the tuniq tower had a reputation to be slightly concave.

Am I damaging the card right now at all because the paste is on wrong?

I think the combo of a colder room + all the fans turned up full blast + tuniq tower spinning at full speed is why my temps are so low.
