Hi, I am wondering how much of an improvement I will get once I receive my q6600 and P35 DS3L from Santa Claus. I am a gamer. Thanks.

Not as much as you think, you have a good rig. Most games will be GPU limited at 1600ish resolution. If you play at 1280x1024 then go for it.

I would save your money and get a raid setup + a penryn when it comes out in march.

Q6600 on DS3L is a pretty sweet setup isn't? I love mine, it really delivers a lot of bang for the buck.

Pair it with a decent video card and really get a cheap "jack of all trades" to throw at gaming, rendering, video conversions, etc.

Hard to not feel satisfied with such a budget quad-core build. I bet a budget spider build probably feels equally satisfying provided overclocking is not important to the end user.

I felt a big difference switching to a Q6600 from a FX-60 ..... even at stock speeds desktop apps is always smooth while World of Warcraft is running on a 2nd display =)

Q6600 G0 @ (3.3ghz) 9x367 1.375V

That's a pretty nice sweet spot with these Q6600's isn't it?

You get 90% of the overclock you could probably force out of the chip but with far less power consumption because you can still keep the Vcore a reasonably low level.

Pushing higher Vcore and shooting for 3.6GHz is possible, but these 9x367 setups are right in a sweet spot it seems.
