I'm looking for ideas with regard to the rig in my sig.. I would like to get it up to 3.8 just for grins....

No matter what combo of multis I use I can not get this thing much over 3.4 .. It runs nice there, temps are reasonable, nothing strange happening. Right now I am running at 9x382 with a 3x mem multiplier, It runs about the same 8x425 with a 2.5x mem multi

Windows starts at everything past those "stable" numbers up to 9x390 or 8x430 , but gives me a BSOD randomly.. anything over that and windows won't even just will not start..

I have had it post as high as 9x410 with no problem
I played with the 7x multi, but it would not even post at 7x500
I have tried upping CPU voltage as high as 1.41
I run my ram at 2.3v (spec is 2.2 to 2.35)
I keep the other voltages at +.01 above stock settings.
Setting PCI-E bus as high as 110 did not change anything
I set the RAM multi down to 2x and n auto (varies, but runs around 9-9-7-23) when I am testing

Any ideas or have I hit the limit of my GO?

I have a similar "problem" with my Q6600 G0 with a somewhat high VID of 1.3125v

I have no problem undervolting at 3Ghz. (1.290v)
For 3.2Ghz I have to set it to 1.4v (so that it runs at 1.35v under load) and for 3.6Ghz I set it at 1.45v in bios (so that it had 1.4 under load)
Toying around at 3.6Ghz doing basic stuff seemed stable, but starting Orthos shows that it is unstable.
I guess you'd have to up the voltage to 1.5v+ or something but I never dared to try.
My temps are no concern whatsoever. (3.2GHz has them at 52° C under full stress on water cooling), but the voltage issue made my stop at 3.2Ghz.

Feel lucky you can do 3.4 3.8 is for fancy water cooling or supercooled.

I'm not looking to run 3.8 (or even 3.4) 24/7, I just want to see if I can get there or confirm why I can't. I don't think heat is the issue at this point.

Its very simple. That chip on average won;t go over 3.4, if you do, you are lucky. What else is there to explain ?

Sorry if I was not clear; I was not looking for an explaination, just making sure that I am not missing something that might be holding me back.

Do you have a reference for that 3.4 q6600 G0 average?

Thanks!

If you ignore the extreme systems (that I really just don;t trust) its lower. See anantech's own review. They said 3.4 was what they got. I believe that more than anyone else (except my own)

Thanks! Great tip. I'm running it at 3.6 (9x400) with memory multi set at 2.5, 5-5-4-12, CPUZ reads 1.408. Temps are up a bit, but not unreasonable. Windows would not start at 410...

3dmark06 jumped up from 13844 to 13929.. Going for 14000 now LOL
