Q6600 CPU Temp Issue.

I think my core temps are way too high. At the moment they are at 63C, 60C, 57C, 57C for core 1 , 2 , 3 ,4 for 7.5% load and under heavy load ( 80% Call Of Duty Black ops) it raises to 79 max. is this a issue and how can I solve it.

I recently bought a new PSU (750 WATTS )and Graphics card ( HD5770 ) that has a temp of 58C degrees.

You haven't told us anything about the heatsink. Are you using the stock cooler or an aftermarket part?

What kind of heatsink do you have on it? Is it a stock Q6600 heatsink? If so, then your temps are basically normal.

My Q6600 gets up to 85-90C under OCCT:linpack, at 3.6Ghz, with a Tuniq Tower 120.

Those temps are fine. Perfectly normal temps my friend. You want 60's C and not above like 70c and 80c is too hot CPU will shutdown @ 85c btw..

change realtemp to display distance to tjmax. if you don't have anything withing 10-15c SUSTAINED of tjmax then, as tweakboy would say, you're gtg. gg & gl.

btw, my q6600 loads much higher than that, that computer randomly restarts every week or so. mom doesn't care/notice so I leave it clocked at 3.4 and everybody's happy. if your cpu is not oc'd then those temps are a bit high and you could re-seat the hsf, but honestly you won't see that much improvement anyway without a lot of time and effort. and a better cpu cooler, like a TRUE or tuniq.

yea its not overclocked and distance to TJMax is 42 max. thankyou guys. I may invest in a cooler later on but for the time being I think ill just keep it as it is and keep an eye on it.

I disagree with tweakboy. 64C for a CPU running at 7.5% load NOT normal. It's a bit on the high side in my opinion. Even with the stock cooler, your temps should be lower than that. Are you sure you applied the thermal paste correctly?

Only way to get lower temps would be to buy an aftermarket HSF or get into water cooling. The other thing to consider is your airflow inside your case. If you are not getting good airflow from the front to the back, it will worsen the temperatures.

That's way too high if not overclocked. Mine at 3.2 idles at the high 40's and under heavy gaming load (Civ 5 really pushes it) can get to mid-70's. Prime can get it to 80. That's on a Artic 7 Pro though.

For comparison, my new Q9300 runs at 3Ghz (400FSB), at stock voltage (1.225v), and temps fully loaded with F@H on all four cores don't exceed 69C on the highest core, as measured by CoreTemp.

My Q6600s are in the low 30s most of the time. Make sure he air-flow is OK. Clean the fans, the ducts, and the heat-sink.

agreed, seems to high. check pushpins on the cooler, make sure it is mounted correctly.

is it running at stock settings ? maybe your core voltage is set too high? that processor can run at stock with lower than stock vid setttings....

As a point of reference, I'm looking at realtemp on mine right now.. and its 42c @ 18% load... overclocked to 3.2.. with voltage set to 1.3125...
