I earlier did an un-install of a Voodoo 3-3000 with all the drivers. Then put in Elsa GeForce 2 with drivers from the CD. ( 4.12.01.0202 ). Started up Q3 to run FPS test...Q3 "can't find open GL sub-system"...do I need to install the nVidia GL Setup v. 1.0.0.118 that I DL'd a few days ago ? Or, the Elsa v. 4.12.01.0206-0150 drivers of 9/29/00 ?... or the 6.31 reference drivers from nVidia ? or...the Elsa driver based on nVidia's "detonator 3" ver 4.12.01.0634 ? Jeez...... thanks for help...

ELSA's driver updates are a little on the slow side sometimes and they always lag a bit. The current ones last time I checked are 6.34 Detonator 3 drivers (although was about a month ago).

OpenGL has never been a problem for ELSA drivers. You could run GLsetup, but you shouldn't need to. Maybe there is a hangover from your Voodoo drivers and that 3Dfx Glide DLL file is still there and confusing Q3.

Either way, you could go with the ELSA drivers or the reference drivers (I've heard the leaked 6.6x version is quite fast), the OpenGL ICD included is fine for Q3 and shouldn't have any problems.

Did you remove the 3dfx V3 entries from the registry using regedit? You should also remove the V3 listing from your system using "safe mode". I've had no problems w/Q3A using the Elsa drivers(on cd and from the website), or the Nvidia reference drivers on my Elsa Gladiac.

Quake 3 locks up at startup...so.....I un-installed newer nVidia GeForce drivers and re-installed the drivers from the CD (4.12.01.0634), and just re-installed Q3...now will patch with 1.17, 1.25, and 1.27 .......please work
