We are a smaller place...they had to fire 5% of staff last friday (I was getting wisdom tooth pulled, so I wasn't at the meeting)....yikes. luckily no one in IS.

A VP in my company abruptly quit her job in September. That made it easier for my company to keep it's employees from lay off, by not replacing her.
