So I watched Batman: Gotham Knight on DVD this afternoon and I was disappointed. :( I know that "they" tried to give this animated collection the "feel" of The Animatrix, but it was a failure IMO. What did you think?

It was bad. Poor animation, no real conclusion (or story for that matter).

I thought it was lacking and sort of too short, the animatrix had like 7 stories and a cgi segment.

It was pretty horrible. I expected more, but they horribly depicted batman except for the one where saves those 2 cops that's transporting a prisoner to the island.

I had higher hopes for this as well. The first few were TERRIBLE, and the rest was just so-so. I didn't like the styles, the voice acting, or the storylines in any of the segments. The Deadshot episode was probably my favorite, but that's not saying much.
I'm not a Conroy fan, but I never got into the animated Batman stuff.
I was hoping for more...
:(

Edit - Just read the IMDB entry. This was supposed to bridge the gap between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight? I failed to see that in any capacity.

I enjoyed it, but I agree it wasn't as good as it could have been. It would've been great to do a full story more akin to a movie (or at least 30-minute episodes) rather than the short stories.

Have I Got A Story For You: Enjoyable, except for the weak ending (I prefer Batman to be more badass). Similar (story-wise) to a Batman: TAS episode, but good nonetheless.

Crossfire: Build-up was too slow for me, but the payoff was excellent. The last scene was very well done.

Field Test: I liked this one, except for the choice of design for Bruce/Batman. He was too young, so the voice really didn't fit well (I love Conroy as Batman, but the look has to fit the voice).

In Darkness Dwells: Okay, nothing special. Fight with Croc was pretty mundane.

Working Through Pain: A little slow, but good otherwise.

Deadshot: Best overall. The set-up was well paced and the fight was also well done (not as good as in Crossfire, but the rest makes up for it).

Note that I've watched all Batman: TAS, Superman: TAS, and Justice League episodes, and I really enjoyed the World's Finest story arc's portrayal of Bruce/Batman.

It was pretty poor. Especially the "anime" stuff in the middle. It didn't translate very well. The animation in the first episode was GOD AWFUL- it looked like a 7 year old drew it. The best was probably one of the last episodes (that scene were Batman's holding all those guns found in sewer filth, and Alfred says "Give me your hand", then Batman replies "I can't..." was pretty powerful).

It was an interesting experiment, but a failed one.

Totally agree. Might be worth a rent but certainly not a buy. Also agree that the best "short story" was the one with the two cops.
